Christmas was wonderful this year, but I am glad that the "hustle and bustle" part is over. Rick and I were in six different homes to celebrate Christmas - seven if you count our own. What a blessing and a bit of a frenetic whirlwind, all at the same time! We were also able to attend the Christmas Eve service at our church for the first time since joining, which was a great reminder to pause in worship of the infant king while the holiday buzz swirled around us.
Now it's back to work on the house. Paint is finished - well, all except for the entry way, which will be completed after tile is laid there. Our tile guy has resurfaced and has resumed work in the bathrooms. We're still working with (gentle word selection for a fairly frustrating process) our wood floor guy to correct mistakes and make sure they finish well. Rick and his dad have installed light fixtures, fans, knobs and hinges...we're really getting close!! Here are a few recent pics of the progress:
Kitchen cabinets with hardware, wall paint and over-sink light
Rick's gorgeous crown moulding, window trim and baseboards
He even trimmed out my washing machine spickets!
I love these little bronze switch plates!
Guest bath, still waiting on mirrors and floor tile
Dining room with chair rail - isn't Rick amazing?!
Our romantic red master bathroom, still waiting on vanity, mirror, toilet and floor tileMy current project is selecting an area rug, preferably one that doesn't cost a bazillion dollars and preferably one that I can see with my own two eyes before purchasing - I've been amazed at how difficult it is to meet both of these criteria! I've narrowed the search a bit, and here are my current favorites (A and B look pretty gray here, but they are actually beige tones) - feel free to vote if you'd like:

I must share these pics of our outing last night with good friends Joe and Jill Rowan. Joe and Rick have been friends for years and are like brothers separated at birth - it's a little unsettling how alike their mannerisms and thought processes and humor are. Anyhoo, I asked Joe to take a photo of the four of us last night at the Texas Bowl (thanks again for the tickets, Pops!)...this began a lengthy process of photo after photo of Rick and Joe competing for who could make the funniest face in the camera while Jill and I continued smiling like the graceful ladies that we are (smile). Here are each of their personal bests (congrats again, guys - very impressive), followed by the normal pic we finally achieved:

Aaaahhh!! I could say so many things about this post.
-7 Homes to celebrate Christmas? I thought we were crazy busy.
-Cabinet doors are on?? AWESOME!!!!
-Love, love, love the little switch plate!
-My choice for rugs is (c), but I'm all about color. My 2nd choice is (b) cause I've seen rugs that are all one color in ppl's homes on dark wood floor and it looks AMAZING. So,hmmmm
-Those pics are hilarious! thanks for posting.
Love you and Miss you!!
Love what you are doing...shouldn't vote without knowing what your furniture taste is...and wrong to disagree with Mel's choices but I really like A the best...but then again it depends on your furniture and Y'all's taste.
